You arrived in the Kurdistan Province’s capital at the start of the vast Zagros mountain range, your tour’s playground. Now is the time to start getting enthusiastic about the journey that lies ahead and will take us down to Shiraz on the most breathtaking mountain road. But for now, just show up and unwind. Enjoy your first cup of exquisite Persian tea while exploring the bustling bazaar.

To Kermanshah

We ride up to over 3000 meters via one of Iran’s most stunning and breathtaking mountain roads, passing through Paveh on our way to Kermanshah. At sunset, you can let the day come to a close at the magnificent Taq-e Bostan ancient site.

To Khorram Abad

At the historic site of Bisotun, eat breakfast, get warmed up, and take in the sunrise while walking in Darius the Great’s footsteps. You can follow the Zagros massive’s center all day long, getting lost in a spectacular scenery of never-ending mountains, until you arrive at your target of today, in travelling to Iran, Khorrm Abad.

Oshtoran Mountain

After the intense riding and impressions of the previous days, we took it easy today; you can choose to either rest or ride. Anyone looking to unwind can simply take a swim in the adjacent Bisheh waterfalls in the Oshtoran Mountains. The most daring riders who can’t get enough of riding their motorcycles can circumnavigate the entire Oshtoran range and scale the 2900-meter-tall Gardan-e Wadoush-Pass.

To Shush

Now that you have a great distance ahead of you, leave Khorramabad early in the morning. You are traveling south and entering the province of Khuzestan after negotiating the harsh terrain. Once you have reached the southern end of the mountain range, follow the Karkheh river downhill until you reach Shush, which is bordered by the old Susa hill.

To Shooshtar

One easy day of cycling remains before you return to the mountains. Your route takes you directly to the historic location of the captivating Chogha Zanbil. Then, bridge the Dez river and go east till you arrive at the famous water mills and ancient fortress city of Shooshtar. Grab a cup of tea near the river, and prepare yourself for the upcoming mountain ride. It is a travel to Iran, each day is a surprise.

To Izeh

Now is the time to continue traveling into the vast Zagros mountain range. You are traveling south when you travel over a rocky landscape to the city of Izeh, which is well-hidden in the mountains. Take your time and examine every single monument that this historic location has to offer. And, of course, sip some delectable tea.

To Lordegan

To Lordegan

You’re afraid of heights? Good. Salutations from the Karoon-3 Dam! You can take the journey further into the highlands and, en route, cross the tallest bridge in the Middle East over the lake created by the Karoon-3 dam. On the southernmost point of the Baloot Boland national park, the Karoon-4 dam is nearby for those who just can’t get enough. Follow the plateau at 1600 meters till you arrive at Lordegan’s lodging for tonight.

To Yasuj

Today’s focus is on the Kuh-e Dinar mountain range, which has 40 peaks that rise beyond 4000 meters. Follow the Khersaan river as it flows by the foot of the snow-capped Kuh-e Dinar, then continue the road uphill to the tiny mountain settlement of Sisakht for a tea break and take in the breathtaking scenery. We cool off at the Margoon waterfall, one of Iran’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls, to fittingly round off the day. You cannot ignore waterfalls when you travel to Iran.

continue to ascend and reache an altitude of roughly 2500 meters before the rocky terrain becomes increasingly less mountainous and reaches the mystic city of Shiraz, the former capital of Iran, at a height of 1540 meters above sea level. It’s time to unwind a little right now. Relax nearby in a tea house or get lost in the busy bazaar. Don’t pass up the chance to experience a fairy tale of 1001 nights by visiting the Shah-e Cheragh Shrine at night.

Spend some time exploring Shiraz, whether on a bike or on foot, and be sure to visit the renowned Eram-Garden. Add a cherry on top today and ride easily to the former capital of the Achaemenid Empire if there is any energy left for riding. Grab your bike and ride out of the busy city traffic to the Zafaranlu-Nomads’ homeland in the north. Head towards the Kalat Nader valley, which you can reach through the canyon, while flying over verdant hills and mountains.

You will arrive at a location where the Jalay-Nomads are residing from May to August with their tents and camels over sloping roads. Feel like a nomad on a motorcycle as you get lost in the stunning sights of limitless hills.

To Shirvan

As you continue on your travel to Iran, you will be near to the Turkmenistan border, which you will pass before entering the Tandoureh National Park. Climb the pass road over 2200m and traverse the Hezar Masjed Mountains in one breathtaking ride. After that success, proceed to Quchan on the opposite side of the mountain range for a well-earned break before continuing on to Shirvan, your final target for the day.

To Kalaleh

Prepare for a long day of riding in the lovely Golestan National Park by rising early. The scenery gets greener as you go closer to the Caspian Sea. Just around the corner from Kalaleh, at the opposite end of the golestan forest, you can cool down and plunge into the Loveh waterfall.

After the arduous riding of the previous days, a quick trip to the Khalid Nabi cemetery situated in a gorgeous hilltop setting provides you enough time to unwind and loosen up a little. In the northwest of Golestan National Park, there are some secret routes that you can explore if you still have some energy. Never, ever forget about Gonbad Kavous; it is heaven on earth.

To Gorgan

Get closer to the Caspian Sea by moving west. You shouldn’t skip the chance to swim in the Shirabad waterfall before entering the Chel-Cheli national park.

To Shahrud

Mountains everywhere you look. To cross the Alborz mountain range on the way to Shahrud, ascend up passes that are more than 2600 meters high. Cool off after the exciting ride by rolling through the Tuskestan jungle toward Shahrud for some well-earned Persian tea. Kuh-e Shahvar is a mountain that rises to a height of 4000 meters. Mountains are one of the main destination of travel to Iran.

To Kiasar

You finally jump for the Caspian Sea after a brief stop at the southern slope of the Alborz mountain range. Before reaching Kiasar, which is located high in the hills and where you set up tent for the night, ride far up the western portion and stop at the Badap-e Surt springs.

To Babolsar

Wake up by riding through the verdant Kiasar woodland in the morning air till you cross the Tajan River. Leave the mountains behind and continue along the river canyon until it reaches the Caspian Sea. Tajan may have reached his last objective, but you are not yet finished.

Nava, the final destination of travel to Iran

You have one more incredible ascent to complete. Leaving the Caspian Sea behind, there is only one direction left: upwards! Follow the Haraz river canyon upstream and climb all day to reach Nava from sea level. From here, one can see the highest peak in Iran and Asia’s tallest active volcano, Mount Damavand, which is 5609 meters high. Your travel to Iran finished but your journey to discover Iran did not.
